What is an MUN?
Model United Nations (MUN) is a unique academic activity that involves debating complex international issues while following the formal procedures and frameworks of the United Nations. These simulations offer students the opportunity to explore the world of diplomacy and international relations, while also developing key skills such as public speaking, negotiation, and critical thinking—laying a strong foundation for their future careers.
According to the United Nations, “Model UN simulations engage hundreds of thousands of students each year, helping them to learn more about the principles of the UN and how it functions. Many of today’s leaders in law, government, business, and the arts—including within the UN itself—participated in Model UN as students.” Additionally, UN General Assembly Resolution 77/336 formally recognizes the value of Model UN in promoting international cooperation, particularly among young people.
